Display Tabs on Separate Rows in Internet Explorer 9

Posted in Windows 7, Windows Vista by Steve Sinchak

By default in Internet Explorer 9 tabs are on the same row as the address bar to create a clean looking interface. Depending on the number of tabs that are open it can be difficult to identify what site is on each tab.  If you like to have a lot of tabs open this article will help you configure Internet Explorer 9 to display all tabs on a separate row, similar to previous versions of Internet Explorer.

In Internet Explorer 9, displaying tabs on a separate row can be done one of two ways:

Method 1:

Right click on  a tab and select Show tabs on a separate row.

Method 2:

For those of you that would like to modify a registry key, open Registry Editor and navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MINIE.  Right click on
ShowTabsBelowAddressBar and select Modify. Set the value to 1 and click Ok.
