Windows 8 opens any web links from Metro Style apps in the Metro version of Internet Explorer. If you are a desktop user and don’t like the behavior you can configure IE to always use the desktop version.
To get started go to the start screen and type in inetcpl.cpl and hit Enter.
Then click on the Programs tab and change the “Choose how you open links” option to Always in Internet Explorer on the desktop.
Click OK and you are set.
