The vista drivers worked fantastic for 7, have they made any specific changes to the drivers for the beta OS or just slapped a big 'windows 7 compatible' notice on the existing drivers?

I know that Windows Vista uses WDDM drivers version 1.0 and Windows 7 uses WDDM 1.1. Since the driver model has not changed much a 1.0 driver should still work but it will just be missing some of the new functionality. For a list of the tweaks to the Windows display driver model in Windows 7 take a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Display_Driver_Model

nvidia windows 7 drivers are truly atrocious, there is a drop of almost 20% in futuremark tests
at one point i believed my equipment was failing, when rolled back to vista latest i had the proof that it was the driver
can't believe that huuuuuuuuge loss and for what day to day work intensive, movie watching gain
i can't believe that any gamers will take a drop in fps just to say i'm using the latest funkiest driver
in this case new is definitely not improved
