Incorrect Tweak Enable Large System Cache

Published in Windows XP Miscellaneous Tweaks by TweakXP Member with 11,419 views and 1 comment

The registry key LargeSystemCache "1" on a RAID Windows XP Pro configuration will lead to disastrious read/write errors. The only way to fix is to open registry and changing the key quickly right after booting Windows and then do an official restart/shutdown.

The key is located here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache

This tweak is widly spread to be enabled but there is never a warning for anyone on RAID! If on RAID do NOT enable this key!

I used XP Pro SP3 with RAID0 via Adaptec ASR-3805 with two Cheetah 15K.5 a few years. First installed OS on this array, then all configuration, undates etc, and only then switching on LargeCache. PC used for Internet surfing anf games, worked 24/7.
