I guess this might be off topic, but it might also be news?

Lots of people have ATI catalyst type drivers, and are now using the card more.
This is to inform you to make sure you either uninstall the ATI drivers, or
Do a sweep of the registry for ati files, or both, prior to re-installing  drivers, or updates of catalyst drivers.

-------------less nessisary info below----------------
I re-installed ATI drivers, and it caused an enumeration dueality in 1 or 2 of the things that gets fired up at startup.
I searched the web, and some users were having high cpu use, and slower computers from 1 or 2 of the ati services, it often leads to stopping the services (simple), or a reinstalations.
and I THINK I know why.

Its common knowlege to uninstall ati drivers prior to re-install, and to clean out the registry (manually) prior to re-install.
This is just to inform people who DONT KNOW, that it is an important step, and that if your experiencing slowdowns, that you could uninstall the drivers, clean the registry (manually) and re-install, as opposed to reinstalling the whole os to repair the problem.

The places to look for the duality is in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
the ATI hotkey poller  <--- especially this one, which people mention
ATI Smart  and
Ati2Mtag  <-- there will be 2 devices on deul head cards, but there should not be 4 or 6 or 8 :-)

It doesnt not show up in the device manager, even after having the hidden devices tweak.

The ONLY usefull information that is posted here if your NOT experiencing any problems with ATI parts and pieces , is to remember to follow the uninstall directions. At the least check the registry before re-instalation of catalyst drivers.

The other duel things that occur, are the microsoft TeeSync-to-Sync converter, and other microsoft parts and pieces that get installed during SOME Ati software instalations.  These can be easily seen with the hidden devices tweak, and deleted, and are not usually any kind of problem. Most people didnt even notice it. These drivers, will not run two times.

You heard it here worst . . .  err first

OK, so i am Guessing, but i try hard
