i got it to the point now if i want to play it i have to install the latest patch for the game (for some reason if i install the patch it lets me play untill i reboot)

So after you reboot the only way to play the game is to reinstall it or reinstall the patch?

| When loading UT2003 for the first time, are you making any changes to the settings or are you leaving them at default?

Is that other game Direct3D as well? If so, have you tried loading an OpenGL game like Quake III?
(If OpenGL works on your box, you can play Unreal Tournament 2003 in OpenGL by doing this tweak to the .ini file. However, even if OpenGL based games work, I think it best to identify and remedy the cause of your problem so that you can play all games regardless of the API.)

| Have you checked the temps of your CPU, video card, and system?

The easiest way is to check the temperatures in your BIOS. When you turn on your computer you may have a line that reads "Press [as an example] Del to enter the BIOS." Press said key, enter the BIOS, and scroll through all its menus until you find the one that has the temperature of your CPU and system listed.
Edit: Oh, two more things, you may want to consider running Sandra to test the overall stability of your hardware. Sandra can be found here. You might also want to test your RAM modules with Memtest.
Edit of the Edit: Your problem does not sound HW related to me, so don't kill yourself performing the above mentioned tests. It doesn't hurt to test though.
