I know its the same question Ive asked before, and Ive been helped and I appreciate it I know I need to get a better desktop, and i plan too, but as of right now Im going to keep this one, not fix it up, just up until I get a new one. So, I was wondering if i can delete, remove or do anything to my computer so I can get some space back on my local disk C?
And do I honestly need the windows service pack 2 files? What would happen if i removed it?
Thanks to whoever can help, and I appreciate it more than you know

| 1) If you use a disk imaging utility on a regular basis (and you should) you can disable System Restore, which will release a large block of space 2) Not knowing what else you have on your system, there's no way anyone can tell you what you can delete 3) If you are talking about the ServicePack folder that is created after you install the service pack then yes, you can delete it 4) You don't need a new system, just add an additional hard drive. They are not expensive.

btw: On a site I read that I can remove the uninstalls for windows xp service pack 2, is that true? and if i can, what if i ever wanted to remove windows xp service pack 2, will I still be able to if i remove the uninstalls for it?
Also, Im wondering if i can remove internet explorer 7 or 8 from my computer? or do i need both of them still?
And I have a file called "ERDNT" and it takes up 167mb, and it says that folder was created in September of this year, and im wondering if i can safely delete that too?
And one more question... on a site I was given to look at from here, it says this... "5. The file "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" may also be safely deleted. Depending on installation method of the service Pack, this file may not be present."
I have that file, but only difference is, is that it doesnt say "\Download" at the ending of the file. Is that still the samething? and if so, may I delete it like it says I can on that site? or do i need it?
I know, so many questions, but my computer isnt that great, and im just looking for some extra space up until i purchase a new one. Thank you SO much for helping me out though

You don't have both and no, you cannot uninstall it.
And I have a file called "ERDNT" and it takes up 167mb, and it says that folder was created in September of this year, and im wondering if i can safely delete that too? Yes. It is the program & backup folder for ERUNT, a registry backup utility. The backups of your registry are taking up all that room. Again, you should use a disk imaging utility on a regular basis and then registry backups become unnecessary.
And one more question... on a site I was given to look at from here, it says this... "5. The file "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" may also be safely deleted. Depending on installation method of the service Pack, this file may not be present."

You can disable Automatic Updates, delete the files in that folder, then re-enable Automatic Updates. But if you are that low on space you really need to get another hd. Thanks for answering my questions
Umm.. about the windows xp service pack 2. What would happen if i removed it completely from my computer? Is it a MUST to have it? Also, someone said if i saved the uninstall folders on a disk and later on i wanted to uninstall windows xp service pack 2, i can just put those files back on to my computer and have no problem uninstalling it. Is that true?
And.. I know im not using both of internet explorers, 7 and 8, but I have the both of them on my computer in my windows folder.. each folder says "ie7", "ie7updates", ie8", and "ie8 updates". Do I need to keep them both on my computer? or can I delete any?
"- I have that file, but only difference is, is that it doesnt say "\Download" at the ending of the file. Is that still the samething? and if so, may I delete it like it says I can on that site? or do i need it?

Again, sorry with the questions, just wanna make sure before I do anything stupid, lol

Some people like Firefox, some like IE8. I use both. But if you're so low on disc space why would you look to add additional programs?
