| I think I screwed myself. I originally started with a Dell XPS 410 with Windows Vista Home Premium. I then bought a downloadable copy of Windows Vista Ultimate. When Windows 7 came out I purchased a downloadable copy of Windows 7 Ultimate which I installed several weeks ago. I stupidly tried to delete my user icon from the Windows screen so it would boot without having to click the user icon. I found instructions on-line to go into local policies/security options/ Interactive Logon: Do not display las user. I enabled it thinking that I was the last user. It had been set to disabled. When I rebooted Windows 7 I get a screen asking for my user name and password which I never established or thought I needed to establish. Apparently, this must be for a guest user. In any event, I have not found a way to go around the lack of a user name or password to get into Windows 7. Is there any way short of doing a clean install of Vista Home Premium, then Upgrade to Vista Ultimate and then to Windows 7 Ultimate. I tried booting from a disc I made of Windows 7 Ultimate and it tells me I have to go into Windows and then upgrade. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I get around this? I am writing this using a dual boot Windows Vista Ultimate. Thanks in advance.

When you setup Windows did you specify the name of your account in the post setup wizard? Just type in your user name you specified with no password and click the login button.
The group policy setting you changed just is hiding the list of accounts on the computer.
