| Hi There.. Yesterday my comp went totally wacky. (Been trying to sort it since) Did a system Restore.. Not any better. I uninstalled windows IE8 And was gonna reinstall it. Problem!! I now cant istall anything .. I have also noticed some of my Icons have turned to arrows and do nothing now. Also On the status bar at the bottom of the comp next to the picture of the world and the word internet.. There is another picture appeared that looks like a webpage with a cross in a red circle .. I Thaught maybe that was something to do with it.. I Ran Avira and antispyware and there was no virus detections. Was not sure if to post here first or do a HijackThisThread Log.. Many Thanks .. Sharon...xxx

Welcome Sharon
If you have HijackThis already installed, post a log into a new topic in the HijackThis Logs forum, not here.
If you don't have HijackThis installed,do you have a second pc were you can download files, also do you have the means to transfer those files over to the problem pc,ie flash drive etc.

If you have the Microsoft Windows XP installation disk, try doing a Repair Install.
Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive if its not set do that already.
Boot into the Bios and set your CD-Rom drive as first boot device.
For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer.
Then insert your Microsoft Windows XP Setup CD,and restart your computer.
When the 'Press any key to boot from CD' message is displayed on screen, press a key.
Press ENTER when you see the message to setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the 'Welcome to Setup' screen.
Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.
In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

Right.. Thanks.. Spent last 2 days re installing XP and all the many updates that came after. As far as i can see most things are back to normal except a few lost files etc.. only one i was bothered about was itunes, Seems to have totally dissapeared.. Anyways .. There is one small thing, When comp starts n loads.. I get an error at the start saying ApplesyncNotifier.exe This application has failed to start because corefoundation.dll was not found reinstalling the application may fix the problem. But i dont know what the application was from. Should i post this in hijack with a Hijack log to see if everything looks ok now. Many Thanks ... Sharon...xxx
