In this economy, they should lower the price of Windows 7 to below Vista. It should be given to anyone who bought a box of Vista also. This is the second time MS came out and said all great, then released a newer one after I shelled out 300-400 bux.
Total Bollox. I could rant for hours on this one.

I bought Vista Business when it came out and ran it. It ran ok on my old p4 but it was not snappy at all. Then I get the system in my sig below and order the 64 bit free software from MS.
I install Vista 64 Business, install the drivers, apps and stuff like I do on 7. Clean up all the temp folders and defrag. Reboot to see the performance of Vista 64 versus Windows 7 (7127).
This is really no comparison. 7 dominates in all aspects. Faster in every way. I always heard I didn't have the hardware to really see what Vista could do. After running it on a Quad Core with 4GB of DDR 1200, I can say Vista was a scam.
It runs fine, don't get me wrong. It just does not snap open things like 7 does. Booting is slower, logging on is slower. Shutting down, don't even get me started. I had the right drivers too. All of them. I'm just sad I wasted another 10$ on the shipping when I knew deep down this would happen.
EDIT: yes, I even let superfetch do its thing before I wiped it clean and put 7 back on.

It will be interesting to see what the "price hike" really is. I heard rumors it was around $10 to $30. But those are just rumors. If they are true then I doubt a increase of that much will really prevent user from buying Windows 7 computers.
Although I can understand Microsoft's cost of Windows 7 is higher than Windows Vista. They licensed a boatload of new technologies and codecs they have to pay royalties on for each box sold. How much do you think apple is getting for the license of the MOV quicktime file format?

With the mass Window's being pirated these days, they should lower the damm price. If you want people to run genuine software, make a home Pro version that does not cost 400-500.
