One more question...
My laptop uses an internal USB connection for the optical drive, so I always have the "safely remove device" icon displayed on the taskbar.
Is there a way to deactivate the icon?
I know I can hide it by going through the taskbar, but that only hides it off to the side behind the toggle arrow. I'd like to get rid of it permanently.
Thanks,
M

Right-click on the Start button - Properties - Notification Area Tab - but a tick in "Hide Inactive Icons" then click on the "customize" button and then the Safely Remove Hardware item. However, if there is anything connected the icon will appear and there is little else you can do.

| PS Tray Factory will do exactly what you want to do. It hides individual icons, and there's no little "arrow" down by the clock to spoil the look. Google it, and check it out.
