How big or small should my pagefile be if I have 2 GB of Ram?

my spec
Vista 32 ultimate sp1
Amd Athlon dual core 4600+
2x1gb ddr2 800
Nvidia Geforce 9600 gt 512mb

I search the forum, try 512 pagefile but it crash on tf2 game, giving out of memory error

If this is the wrong place to posted, please move it, thx

Leave it at system managed - you'll be fine.

got mine a 595 to 599mb set custom , for 1.5gb of ram for windows vista home basic 32 bit rock and clocks fast stable and secure out the box, with no bad updates needed.Logs on with all out of the box services running with only around 235 mb or actually onboard ram used.

Also I got my prefetch and superfetch in the registry keys set a value 2 and 2.

Only use device manager update or windows error reporting update and online search.
Its thier for a reason and it feels your computer combination, and will recommend their by.

Be it device manager or windows error and correction built into my o/s dosent sense any conflicts or problems or error, or recommend any updates that would be real and not pie in the sky what do I need may do this or that updates that may be more bugs upon more bugs.

Learn how to use device manager and windows error reporting and correction/solution service and
it senses exactly what errors or problems/conflicts thier may be. Sometimes it may take a little while to find a exact problem but exact is better than may help this or that or solution this or that updates that I found out can be more buggy or to say the least effect system performance like
big time prior to a fresh install without all those may do this or that updates.

Also letting device manager do installs or windows services by zip only is mild and cleaner on the system, and even less likely to have malicious codes installed or errors during the installation process.

Their is more than spy ware out their I call it suckware, that sucks compared to a fresh install, and what device manager or windows error/correction service recommends.

And or can updates be bad dates, yes and many people have experienced these system suckbugs.

Something that is built into your system for your system and feels your system is less likely to give it ills, for many reasons correct? Exactly.

Also to mention it dosent have future money on its mind.Device manager/windows error and correction service

Want real future Job/employment security. That isnt fiction now or in the future.

Grow a garden and the most important one own with patience the only thing you actually can possess/own in this universe and that be yer soul and the heart of it the flower and the mind of it yer spirit.

Updates can be what kind of dates?

1. ensure that all other programs and processes are closed down when you are gaming. NOT the firewall of course.

2. 2GB ram is only JUST sufficient for Vista. Especially when the processor needs to calculate fast and often. Upgrading to another 1GB is a cheap solution.

3. Transfer the page file off your root drive (the one with Vista installed.) It makes a remarkable difference. OR you can simply create say another 500MB on a second drive, that will auto-activate when needed for gaming .

4. Lack of Maintainance can slow the machine badly too. i.e.

clear temp files (there's usually heaps if you play or are on the internet lots.) clear offline web pages and cookies.

Hope that helps, have a good one.
