| I am running MS Visual Styles, Bookskin and Logon Studio. None of these change the turn off splash screen in XP to any other appearance than the usual luna blue. Any suggestions how to change the color of it or change the splash screen altogether?

Hello
the only way i know to change the » Changing START / PROGRAMS / TURN OFF MY... screen is by resource hacking the msgina.dll file in your system32 folder . . or you just can replace yours with an already patched (renaming the original first or it wont work) . .
i actually have an awesome one installed, you can download it here!
enjoy!

| I found the fix. It's AWESOME....... Resource Hacker and the Vista style buttons found in this msgina.res file. http://forum.oszone.net/post-517720-116.html . IMPORTANT NOTE....... BE SMART.... read this carefully. I assume ABSOLUTELY and POSITIVELY NO responcibility for your attempt to try this. It is your decision to continue. Here is how I did it. I opened the original msgina.dll in Resource Hacker which is located in windows/system32 folder. I replaced the original XP luna blue bitmap of the shutdown screen with the bitmap of my choice as long as the replacement bitmap was the same EXACT size as the original. I replaced the original XP buttons with the Vista style located in msgina.res. I saved the new msgina.dll file to a safe location. Copied the original msgina.dll also to a safe location. I copied over the original msgina.dll located in windows/system32 with the new msgina.dll. I copied it over with a BARTPE cd using DEEP BURNER PORTABLE which has an explorer utility ONLY AFTER I BACKED UP MY "C" DRIVE using BARTPE cd with Drive Image XML Portable. One can also use either a utility like NORTON GHOST, ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE, DRIVE IMAGE XML PORTABLE OR A SIMILAR UTILITY to backup your "C" drive FIRST. IMPORTANT NOTE........ DO NOT do a tremendous amount of creative manipulation of a jpeg before converting to a bitmap for use here. Windows may not like it. Your system may crash. Hence, the need to a backup of your "C" drive prior to copying over the original msgina.dll with the new one.
