Hi,

is there a way to change IRQ in Vista? How?

I have a game where I can set up the sound. I use a Soundblaster sound card. Vista assigned the IRQ 22 for this sound card. But my game allows me to set maximum the IRQ 15. So, I need somehow to change the IRQ in Vista. Is this possible?

Thank you

You'll be limited in which IRQs you can use.

Starting with Win98, Windows has IRQ Sharing and usually was up to IRQ15. WinXP and WinVista take that number even higher and do a much better job of Sharing.

The Primary IDE Channel on the motherboard [for HDDs] is IRQ 14 and the Secondary IDE Channel [for Optical drives] is IRQ 15. Those shouldn't be changed or the computer may not boot to the drives.

This chart is pretty much standard:

Hi Berton, thank you for the answer.

See, this is my problem, the Use automatic settings is greyed out, so I can't change anything. Do you know of a solution to go around this?

The first two pages may be more basic than you need but the third seems to be closer to the issue.

It does sound to me like the game is older and doesn't recognize features of newer Operating Systems.
