I have had this happen several times in the past, i had recently reformatted and installed sygate firewall. For some reason, at some point the program will just decide not to start up with windows and when I goto the start menu to select it, it doesnt even open. It results in me uninstalling and reinstalling and for some reason its been happening more frequently lately!

Are you updated to the most recent build (build 1615, I believe it is)? I know with the prior build, I had similar problems (slow startup), but I think that bug was fixed in the newest release.
If updating doesn't help, you might want to check out the Sygate support forums and see if there's an answer there.

Uninstall then reinstall it and follow the SPYWARE Removal thread in the Common Questions Forum, some spyware will corrupt Sygate and disable it.
