What possible hardware failures could totally crash a computer? My friend's computer will not work at all and I'm just tryin to find some possibilities. Static discharge? Bad PSU? I'm not looking for a solution, just any possible things that could cause it to not turn on under any circumstances.

Post more info... anything. Any noises or messages along with anything that has changed with the computer recently (software or hardware). after that we might be able to narrow it down.

If it doesn't even begin to turn on, I'm gonna say that the power supply has bought it, if the processor, video card, or anything else died it will usually turn on for a second or 2 then turn off.
Write your questions down on the back of a $20 dollar bill and send them to me.

Answering just on reflex, I'd say either the PSU or proc died.
Answering on delayed reflex, I'd say the mobo could also be at fault—either it up and died or a connection or two loosened somehow.

no dust can overheat, but there is one guy on the web that his ram started failing, and all the computer needed was a dusting. usually its in machines that are more than 8mo old and not ever taken care of.
OK, so i am Guessing, but i try hard

I dont know, that could be a part of it. He's taking it to Best Buy to get fixed under the warranty anyway.
