It's around 65C when idle and when I surf the internet and such, it goes up to 70C+.

I changed my heatsink already and applied the thermal paste correctly so I don't think it's the heatsink. I believe the problem lies within the cpu itself because I installed a celeron D on the same motherboard and the cpu stays around 40C when idle.

What do you guys think the problem is?

Win 7 Autoplay problem....

WINDOWS 7 RC7100.

When I insert any discs into my optical drive, or USB devices such as flash drive, iPOD etc they no longer autoplay. With a disc in the optical drive if I go to Computer and double click to open I get the following error message;

"windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access them."

I can still access the drive if I right click and select open.

I have tried uninstalling in device manager, re-assigned another drive to F: and then reboot and let Windows rediscover my DVD drive. I also uninstalled Nero, run CCleaner, hijackthis, scan with Kaspersky etc

Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT:

I did an upgrade to one of the newer versions of Win 7, possible 7227, but punkbuster would no longer work so I restored back to RC7100 using Win7 backup & restore, however, I am unsure if this coincided with the problem or not.

Old but re-jigged computer won't POST

Hi all,
just got a new motherboard and RAM and set it all up with all my old equipment that used to work. Now the computer does nothing
All the fans are working and the little front LED is on but the monitor's LED remains on yellow and there's no beep from the motherboard.
I have double-checked the pins on the motherboard where the chip sits and no pins are bent.
The RAM is a single stick of 1GB DDR2 RAM 5300 unbuffered and the motherboard is a dual channel motherboard but I think it takes single sticks.
The motherboard is an Asrock G31M-S

I have stripped the computer down, leaving just the mobo in the chassis with the chip and associated fans. No hard drives, ROMS, or RAM.
Without the RAM, the mobo gives 3 short beeps on bootup meaning a failure of the RAM. Upon placing the RAM back into it's slot, nothing as before, just the fans spinning. I've tried both RAM slots and the same nothingness.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Ethernet card

I want to install a new Ethernet Card for connecting to a modem. I shut down the computer completely and then unplugged everything from the back. The power supply was working fine then.

I made sure that I grounded myself when opening the side panel for cleaning. I then vaccummed the dust from reachable areas, making sure I didn't unplug anything in the process. I finished up and plugged everything back in as normal, but the green light on the back of my power supply started blinking and so did the power button in the front of my computer and it would not start. I unplugged the power and the light keeps blinking at a slow rate for several minutes. I then reopened the casing and made sure that I all connectors were tight and they were but to no avail.

I would sincerely appreciate any help I can get with this.....thanks.
= )

Card Over heated now pc wont turn on

My Nvidia Geforce for some reason got extremely hot I was playing a game on my xbox look over and see distorted video on my comp i walked over and smelled something i jumped down unplugged the pc and touched my video card and it was extremely hot making sure it was all unhooked i sprayed the duster cleaner and the liquid from that sizzled when it hit the card.

the card is all clean and cool now but when i plugged my pc in nothing happened. I'm running windows 7 64-bit.

2. underclock the GPU as well. ATi tool comes to mind here, i'll try it when i get home tonight.

Problem connecting PC to TV using HDMI

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 3650
TV: Olevia 232-S12

I bought an HDMI cord, connected it from the back of my PC to the back of my TV, turned to the HDMI channel, restarted the PC, but I'm still not getting any picture. I looked up what error code 43 was on MS support and it was less than helpful.

I've done everything I could think of, including:

Removing/scrubbing the old video drivers, and installing fresh ones from the Nvidia.com
Updating windows itself.
Updating the BIOS
Removing the card, dusting/cleaning it off and reseating it.
Reinstall windows.

The machine worked fine for a few months apparently, and then the 4 bit color problem happend very suddently.
Before he dropped it off to me, he turned the system on (first time in about a month) and the display was fine... ran for about 10 minutes and than froze. On reboot the display was back to low color.

I've searched around on the net and found a lot of people with the same problem with various cards and systems.. but no one who seems to have fixed it.

I'm guessing he might just have a bum card. I'm just wondering why windows can recognize it at all, if its bad.

does anyone have any other pissible suggestions?
Thanks in advnace.

unable to change resolution

Well I'm unable to change my screen resolution from 640 by 480 to my normal setting of 1024 by 768.Everything was fine when I turn my on computer in the morning then I shut it off when I had to leave, then when I came back and turn it back on the resolution was mess up.The only thing I did out of the ordinary was send an e mail from my cell to my computer.I also ran anti-virus and anti-spyware but nothing came up.

CD Rom or..?

hey its me again

im trying to load a game CD and when i remove first CD from tray and try to load second CD, my pc freezes and need to reboot to un****.

im running XP and its on a DVD-Rom

thx for help and your hard wook <3

Problem with ethernet cards

Hi,
I just upgraded my pc and bought a Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H motherboard.
I didn't reinstall Windows, just put my old HD with Winxp sp2.
For some reason, when checking Device manager, the build-in ethernet card has a question mark, and the information says the drivers are not installed.
I tried installing the cd that came with the motherboard, I tried downloading the Nvidia chipset drivers, but both still give the same result.
So I took and old Realtek rtl8319d ethernet card I have, but again the same problem, Device manager says the drivers are not installed.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Windows Delay Write Error

I tried installing a game from cd and I get a Delay Write Error.
